Every year on 15 May, Palestinians mark Al-Nakba (the Catastrophe), the ethnic cleansing of Palestine and the near-total destruction of Palestinian society in 1948.

Between 1947 and 1949, Zionist forces seized more than 78 percent of historic Palestine and expelled at least 750,000 Palestinians from their lands and homes.
