A number of Republican senators are backing a bill that would see the products of illegal Israeli settlements labelled as “Made in Israel”, Israeli newspaper The Jerusalem Post reported on Saturday.
One of the last orders of the former US President Donald Trump required products of Israeli settlements to be labelled as “Made in Israel”.
Seven senators from Trump’s Republican party are seeking to turn this order into law. Senator Tom Cotton introduced the action under the Anti-BDS Labeling Act.
The Jerusalem Post disclosed that the bill has no chance of passing due to the Democrats’ domination over the Senate.
This comes on the heels of US ice cream maker Ben & Jerry’s decision to pull back its products from Israeli settlements.
