Sancties zijn een vreedzaam maar effectief middel, zoals destijds gebleken is in Zuid Afrika ten tijde van de apartheid. Versterkte voorzetting van de actie is nodig gezien de blijvende Nederlandse steun voor Israel, wat het ook maar doet.

Het picket is niet meer dagelijks maar 1 à 2 keer per week. De dagelijkse actie was erg nuttig waarbij vooral de oproep om de regering te mailen veel weerklank vond.

Over 2 dagen (nu dus over 1 dag) zou hier in Nederland een cruciale stap in de richting van vrede in Israël / Palestina genomen kunnen worden, als genoeg van ons nu actie ondernemen.
Minister van Buitenlandse Zaken Timmermans zegt dat het grootste obstakel voor een vreedzame oplossing de illegale Israëlische bezetting van Palestina is. En toch wordt Nederlands pensioengeld geïnvesteerd in Israëlische banken die deze bezetting in stand houden! Na massale publieke druk komt het bestuur van het pensioenfonds ABP bijeen om te bespreken of ze tientallen miljoenen euro’s aan Nederlands pensioengeld terugtrekken uit deze banken. PGGM/PFZW heeft zich al teruggetrokken, en als ABP nu stappen zet zal dit een duidelijk signaal afgeven dat Nederland niet langer banken zal financieren die conflicten aanwakkeren – andere bedrijven zullen volgen, en de hele oorlogsdynamiek zou kunnen veranderen.
We hebben maar 48 uur (nu nog maar 18 uur) om actie te ondernemen! De aandacht van ABP hebben we al – meer dan 1,7 miljoen Avaaz-leden – waarvan meer dan 40.000 in Nederland – hebben hen al opgeroepen om investeringen terug te halen, en aartsbisschop Desmond Tutu heeft hier zijn steun aan verleend. Maar ABP beweert dat ze nog steeds niet weten wat Nederlandse pensioenhouders willen dat ze doen. Laten we een dringende megaoproep voor vrede doen, rechtstreeks vanuit Nederland naar het ABP-bestuur voordat ze bijeenkomen!
Stuur een persoonlijk bericht naar het ABP-bestuur met het formulier aan de rechterzijde (in de AVAAZ-link).
Gebruik daarbij de gesuggereerde uitspraken als je dat wilt, en deel dit met iedereen die je kent.

Intensify BDS against Israel in all fields, including by taking the following actions:
1. Working to have arrest warrants issued against Israeli war criminals and for them to be tried before your courts.
2. Pressuring governments to impose a comprehensive military embargo on Israel.
3. Pressuring governments to suspend all free trade and bilateral agreements with Israel until it complies with international law.
4. Building effective direct action against Israel and Israeli companies, such as the inspiring Block the Boat actions that prevented Israeli ships from unloading in California and Seattle, and the occupations of Israeli weapons company Elbit Systems’ factories in the UK and Australia.
5. Working within trade unions to raise awareness about Israel’s regime of oppression and engaging in effective BDS measures such as stopping handling of Israeli goods, divesting trade union funds from Israel and complicit companies, and boycotting complicit Israel trade unions. The trade union movement has a proud history of successful campaigning against apartheid in South Africa, and the Congress of South African Trade Unions has joined Palestinian trade unions in calling for trade union action to end Israel’s impunity.
6. Holding to account those corporations and retailers that support and profit from Israel’s regime of occupation, colonialism and apartheid, including by boycotting their products and taking creative and direct action.
