JENIN CINEMA PROJECT (uit ontvangen bericht)
In Jenin (een Palestijnse stad in het noorden van de Westelijke Jordaanoever) is een uniek project aan de gang. De bioscoop van Jenin werd tijdens de eerste Intifada (eind jaren ’80) gesloten en raakte sindsdien in verval. In 2007 besloot een Duits–Palestijnse projectgroep om de bioscoop te renoveren zodat de inwoners van Jenin weer naar de film konden. Dit was het begin van het Jenin Cinema Project. Palestijnse en Duitse maar ook vele andere internationale vrijwilligers hebben keihard gewerkt om de bioscoop in oude luister te herstellen. Op 4 september 2010 is de bioscoop feestelijk geopend. Prominent en actief lid van de groep is Marcus Vetter, maker van de bekende film “The Heart of Jenin” (2007). Het project biedt jonge Palestijnen tevens de kans om workshops en trainingen te volgen op het gebied van film maken.
Om vrijwilligers, maar ook toeristen, onder te brengen, werd een nabijgelegen oude Palestijnse villa omgebouwd tot de Jenin Cinema Guesthouse. Voor een luttel bedrag (€ 15,- p.n.) bent u van alle gemakken voorzien en vindt u een goed bed in één van de vijf ruime slaapzalen. In de grote gemeenschappelijke keuken wonen, eten en praten vrijwilligers en andere gasten als één grote, gezellige familie. Of soms kijken ze samen een film op het dakterras, want iedereen is er een beetje filmgek. Vanaf nu hebt u in Jenin een thuis!

Media Briefing bij het ICC mbt Israelisch optreden tegen Gaza Flotilla
Beste vrienden en vriendinnen,
A.s. donderdag, 14 oktober. om 10:30 uur vindt een ‘Media Briefing’ plaats met betrekking tot de Flotilla die op weg was met medische hulpgoederen, cement en bouwmaterialen naar Gaza, eind mei jl. en die zo tragisch afliep met de dood van 9 vredesactivisten op de Mavi Marmara als gevolg van het brute optreden van Israel.
Locatie van de briefing: Internationaal Strafhof (International Criminal Court, ICC), Den Haag. Het ICC is gevestigd in een voormalig KPN-gebouw langs snelweg A12.aan de Maanweg, in de Binckhorst, een terrein op de grens met Voorburg. (A12 afslag Binckhorst)
