Israel set to ‘punish’ Amnesty International in wake of apartheid report

Middle East Monitor  /  February 7, 2022

The occupation state of Israel is planning to punish Amnesty International after the rights organization issued a report which concluded that “apartheid” is being imposed upon the Palestinians, Israel Hayom reported on Sunday.

The Constitution, Law and Justice Committee in the Israeli parliament is to take measures in the coming days that will cancel the tax exemption status of Amnesty’s branch in Israel.

Far-right Israeli Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman has apparently already issued the order for this to happen.

The Israeli daily reiterated that this measure follows the Amnesty report which found that Israel is an apartheid state according to international laws and conventions.
