Israeli occupation authorities yesterday arrested 51-year-old prisoner Nabil Masalmeh the moment he was released from the Negev prison in which he spent 23 years in detention.
The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club said that the occupation authorities escalated their policy of re-arresting Palestinian prisoners following their release from Israeli jails, and expanded the scope of such renewed arrests beyond Jerusalem.
Masalmeh, who is from Hebron/Al-Khalil, was arrested in 2000 and sentenced to 23 years in prison. He had previously been arrested in 1987, 1989, 1990, 1993, 1994 and 2000, and has spent a total of nearly 27 years in Israeli jails.
