Hamas has agreed to a roadmap for the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire, seeking permanent calm and full Israeli withdrawal.
Hamas agrees to second-phase roadmap
The Palestinian Resistance Movement Hamas has confirmed its agreement to a roadmap for the second phase of US President Donald Trump’s Gaza plan, following talks with mediators and guarantors of the ceasefire agreement.
The announcement followed a meeting between a Hamas leadership delegation headed by Khalil al-Hayya and delegations representing the mediators and guarantors.
According to Hamas, the roadmap was presented by Nikolay Mladenov, coordinator of the Board of Peace, together with the mediators.
The movement said its decision to accept the proposal was based on the interests of the Palestinian people and its objective of securing a permanent ceasefire and the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from the Gaza Strip.
Hamas also praised Trump’s role in reaching the ceasefire agreement concluded in Sharm al-Sheikh and in efforts leading to the roadmap for its second phase.
Hamas says resistance fulfilled first phase
In its statement, Hamas stressed that the movement and the Palestinian Resistance had fully complied with their obligations under the first phase of the ceasefire agreement reached in Sharm al-Sheikh.
It contrasted that position with Israel’s conduct, accusing the occupation of failing to abide by the agreement.
According to Hamas, Israeli occupation forces instead resorted to renewed military escalation on the ground, further worsening Gaza’s humanitarian catastrophe.
The movement also said the Israeli occupation had announced its rejection of the roadmap, despite efforts by mediators to move the ceasefire process into its next stage.
Permanent ceasefire, Israeli withdrawal
Hamas presented its acceptance of the roadmap as part of an effort to move beyond a temporary cessation of hostilities toward a permanent end to the war.
The movement emphasized that the process must ultimately lead to the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from Gaza.
Hamas said its leadership delegation hoped that ongoing diplomatic efforts would succeed in ending the suffering of the Palestinian people and establishing security and stability in the region.
