Jordanian activists, trade unionists and party figures have called for strengthening the boycott of pro-Israel brands and goods and to replace them with national alternatives.
This came during a conference held yesterday by the Protecting the Homeland and Resisting Normalization Committee of the Jordanian Engineers Syndicate.
The participants stressed the need for continuing boycott campaigns and defending the reputation of national products in a way that contributes to improving their quality.
Deputy Head of the Engineers Syndicate, Fawzi Massad, said: “In the face of the ongoing Zionist massacres in the Gaza Strip, the need to resist the occupation and its supporters in all possible ways increases, including boycotting the [Israeli] occupation’s products and foreign companies that finance its crimes and support its military machine.”
“A well-organized boycott is an act of resistance, and it is the least that can be done and through it contribute to the battle of truth against injustice. The boycott also works to educate generations, and instill in them the spirit of resistance, participation, standing with truth, and interaction with international humanitarian issues,” he added.
For his part, the head of the Protecting the Homeland and Resisting Normalization committee, Sobhi Abu Zaghlan, said, “The widespread popular boycott of pro-Israel foreign brands and commercial companies led to a noticeable decline in their presence and the closure of many of them in the local market, paralleled with Jordanians’ increased desire to buy Jordanian products.”
