Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ consistent efforts to meet Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and his Interior Minister, Ayelet Shaked, reflects the level of decline in the behaviour of the Palestinian Authority’s leadership, Hamas warned yesterday.
The movement’s spokesperson, Hazem Qassem, described the PA’s behaviour as “completely contradicting the popular stance that rejects humiliation while dealing with the Israeli occupation.”
“Such behaviour by the PA leadership would encourage the occupation to escalate its aggression against the Palestinian people,” Qassem said on Twitter.
During his meeting with a number of ministers of Israel’s Meretz party, Abbas was recently reported to have requested a meeting with Bennett and Shaked.
