The High Follow-Up Committee for Arab Citizens of Israel has called for protests in Palestinian towns and cities across Israel to show support for Palestinians in Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque.
In a statement, the committee called for: “Support of Jerusalem and its people in the face of the bloody terrorist aggression against our people in Jerusalem’s neighbourhoods and Al-Aqsa Mosque.”
The committee also stated that it is planning to organise delegations to Jerusalem and its neighbourhoods, where tens of Palestinian families face forced expulsion by the Israeli occupation authorities.
“The aggression of the terrorist occupation army this [Friday] evening against thousands of worshippers in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the wounding of 200 worshippers, is a dangerous indicator of what the occupation is planning in the coming days, for the holy city and Al-Aqsa Mosque,” the committee announced.
The committee has agreed with the families of Sheikh Jarrah to organise mass protests against the Israeli aggression, either two days before or after the end of the holy month of Ramadan. “The timing is left for them to decide,” Head of the committee Mohammad Baraka told Al-Quds al-Arabi.
This protest would coincide with the mass Israeli settlers’ raid to the Muslims holy site, according to the committee, which called for the Palestinians in Israel and occupied territories to travel in droves to Al-Aqsa Mosque and remain there until the end of the month of Ramadan.
Since the start of the holy month of Ramadan, which coincided with an Israeli court’s decision to force Palestinian families out of their homes in Sheikh Jarrah, the Israeli occupation settlers have escalated their attacks against Jerusalemites.
Jewish settlers’ attacks, which have started using live ammunition against Palestinians, are protected by the Israeli police. According to the Palestine Red Crescent Society, more than 200 Palestinians have been wounded.
