The remains of 15 navy vessels lie half-sunk in the water at Latakia after Israeli airstrikes destroyed military infrastructure across the country following the Assad regime’s collapse last week.
The extent of the Israeli strikes have surprised many western capitals, with air raids destroying 70% of the Syrian military’s capabilities.
The Israeli defence minister has said that troops will remain in the Golan Heights buffer zone over winter, while the UN has called on Israel to withdraw from the buffer zone
