Israel’s Higher Follow-up Committee for Arab citizens slams Biden for recognizing Israel as Jewish State

The head of the Higher Follow-up Committee for Arab Citizens of Israel, Mohammad Baraka, on Saturday slammed US President Joe Biden for calling to recognize Israel as a “Jewish state”.

Baraka said the president’s call threatens the region with future wars and justifies the displacement of the Palestinian people from their homeland since 1948

Earlier on Friday, Biden confirmed that there had been no shift in his commitment to Israel’s security, adding: “My party still supports Israel. Let’s get something straight: until the region says unequivocally they acknowledge the right of Israel to exist as an independent Jewish state, there will be no peace.”

“The US president’s call is an adoption of the Israeli apartheid law also known as the Jewish nation-state law, which denies the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and citizenship, as well as their right to their language, and even their right to reside in their homeland,” Baraka asserted.

He described the statements as an aggression against the entire Palestinian people and their right to full citizenship in their homeland, where they constitute 18 per cent of the country’s citizens.

“The call makes the president’s talk about the two-state solution void of any real meaning,” Baraka added.
